A spiritual leader in Bangladesh was beaten to death by a mob in Kushtia district after a video circulating on social media triggered anger over alleged remarks seen as offensive to religion. The killing has once again raised concerns over mob violence in Bangladesh and the speed with which viral content can turn into deadly unrest before authorities regain control. The video quickly circulated on social media, drawing people to the site. In several local accounts, the attack was described not only as a beating but also as a violent assault in which the shrine premises were damaged and some sections were set on fire. Police Response And Law And Order Questions Police later reached the spot and began investigating the incident.
