Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) recorded total sales of 199,400 units in February 2025, reflecting a marginal increase of 0.98% compared to the 197,471 units sold in the same month last year. The company's performance remained steady, driven by domestic demand, even as exports showed a slight decline. Domestic Sales Growth The company's domestic sales, including passenger vehicles (PV), light commercial vehicles (LCV), and supplies to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), reached 174,379 units, marking an increase from 168,544 units in February 2024. Passenger Vehicles: Sales in this segment rose slightly to 160,791 units compared to 160,271 units last year. Light Commercial Vehicles (Super Carry): The LCV segment saw a decline, with 2,710 units sold versus 3,126 units in February 2024. OEM Sales: The supply of vehicles to other manufacturers witnessed a sharp increase, reaching 10,878 units compared to 5,147 units in the previous year. Export Performance Despite robust domestic sales, Maruti Suzuki’s exports declined by 13.50%, with 25,021 units shipped in February 2025 compared to 28,927 units during the same period last year. The dip in international shipments was attributed to logistical challenges and fluctuating demand in key markets. Segment-Wise Domestic Sales Mini Segment (Alto, S-Presso): Sales fell to 10,226 units from 14,782 units in February 2024. Compact Segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR): Sales improved to 72,942 units, up from 71,627 units. Mid-Size Segment (Ciaz): This category saw growth, with sales reaching 1,097 units from 481 units last year. Utility Vehicles (Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, XL6): Sales climbed to 65,033 units from 61,234 units. Vans (Eeco): Sales dipped slightly to 11,493 units from 12,147 units in February 2024. Year-to-Date Sales Performance Between April 2024 and February 2025, Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative sales crossed 2.04 million units, marking an increase from the 1.94 million units sold during the same period last year. This growth highlights the company’s ability to sustain its leadership position in the Indian automotive market. Competitive Landscape In a major industry shift, Mahindra & Mahindra surpassed Hyundai to become India’s second-largest car manufacturer in February 2025, driven by strong demand for its SUV lineup.
