Iran MoU Raises Gulf Security Concerns The Iran MoU has drawn cautious responses from Gulf states, which broadly support efforts to end the conflict but remain concerned about the terms of the agreement. Key concerns include how the deal will restrict Iran’s nuclear programme, whether verification measures will be strong enough, and how Tehran’s regional activities will be monitored. Some Gulf officials are also expected to seek clarity on any reconstruction or sanctions-related provisions included in the agreement. Strait Of Hormuz Navigation Talks The Strait of Hormuz is expected to be a major focus of Rubio’s meetings. The waterway remains one of the world’s most important shipping routes, particularly for oil and gas exports from the Gulf. Washington is expected to reassure allies that freedom of navigation will remain a priority. The visit also comes after Iran indicated support for a communication mechanism to reduce the risk of misunderstandings involving ships passing through the strait.
