Liberal leadership – Bharat Pulse News

A Liberal backbencher has openly called for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign as the leader of the Liberal Party, amid growing discontent among party members. Sean Casey, the MP for Charlottetown, expressed his concerns during an interview with CBC News Network's Power & Politics, highlighting the dissatisfaction he has encountered from voters in his constituency. Calls for Change in Liberal Leadership Casey's remarks come as internal pressure builds within the Liberal Party for a leadership change. He noted that Trudeau’s leadership has become a frequent topic of discussion among voters, with many expressing that it is time for the prime minister to step down. "The message that I've been getting loud and clear — and more and more strongly as time goes by — is that it is time for to go. And I agree," Casey said. Internal Push for Trudeau’s Exit Casey's public statement follows reports of secret meetings among frustrated Liberal MPs discussing the future of the party after a surprising byelection loss in Toronto-St. Paul’s in June. Sources indicate that several MPs are coordinating efforts to remove Trudeau as party leader. Although Casey has not attended these meetings, he acknowledged being aware of them and expects the push for Trudeau’s resignation to gain momentum when MPs return to Ottawa next week. MPs Rally Support for Leadership Change According to sources, at least 20 Liberal MPs have signed a pledge calling for Trudeau's resignation, with additional members voicing their support for the effort. The push for a leadership change comes as the party grapples with internal tensions and concerns over voter confidence ahead of future elections. The growing discontent signals a critical juncture for the Liberal Party, as it navigates internal divisions and the potential for a shift in leadership under mounting pressure from within its own ranks.
