Tehran and Washington have electronically finalised a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the Iran war, with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council saying the deal covers fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon. Iran war deal covers Lebanon front According to Iran’s security council, the agreement includes an end to hostilities on all fronts connected to the conflict, including Lebanon. Tehran has said the Lebanon front is a key part of the understanding and that any final peace arrangement must address fighting involving Israel and Iran-backed groups. The issue remains sensitive because Israel is not a direct party to the US-Iran MoU. Israeli leaders have separately said they will continue security operations in areas they consider necessary for national defence. Nuclear talks and Strait of Hormuz The agreement is also expected to open the way for further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief and regional security guarantees. These issues remain central to whether the ceasefire framework can become a lasting settlement. The reopening of maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, is also expected to be part of the implementation process. The waterway is critical for global energy supplies, and any easing of tensions could bring relief to oil markets and international shipping.
