The Supreme Court is set to hear on August 24 a plea seeking a CBI or independent investigation into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025. The petition also seeks cancellation of the examination and preservation of key physical and digital evidence. Supreme Court to Hear JPSC CBI Probe Plea The petition has been filed by social activist Harisharan Devgan through advocate Satyam Singh Rajput. It seeks an independent, comprehensive and time-bound investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted on April 19, 2026. The petitioner has argued that transferring the investigation from state authorities to the CBI or another independent body is necessary to ensure impartial scrutiny of public officials and examination agencies. JPSC Exam Irregularities Under Scrutiny The controversy intensified after the examination results were announced, with aspirants raising questions over evaluation procedures and alleged discrepancies involving OMR sheets. The plea seeks preservation of original OMR sheets, candidates’ carbon copies, CCTV footage, server audit logs and other digital records to prevent possible loss or tampering of evidence. The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial examination. Jharkhand Recruitment Row Reaches Supreme Court The Supreme Court proceedings come amid wider turmoil surrounding recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. The state government has cancelled several recruitment processes following prolonged student protests, while the Jharkhand High Court has temporarily stayed cancellation orders affecting appointments made through the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations. Aspirants have continued demanding a CBI investigation, arguing that cancelling examinations alone does not establish responsibility for alleged malpractice.
