Around 2,000 successful JSSC-CGL candidates have launched a fresh protest in Jharkhand after the state government cancelled the recruitment examination over alleged irregularities. The decision ended weeks of agitation by one group of aspirants but has now triggered anger among candidates who had cleared the examination and fear losing their government jobs. JSSC-CGL Cancellation Sparks Fresh Jharkhand Protest Successful candidates gathered outside the Jharkhand Secretariat in Ranchi on August 18, questioning why all selected applicants should face consequences for alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. Around 1,975 candidates are reported to be directly affected by the cancellation. Several protesters argued that they had cleared the recruitment process on merit and should not automatically be treated as beneficiaries of alleged wrongdoing. Some candidates have already joined government service, while others were awaiting completion of the appointment process. Selected Candidates Demand CBI Probe The protesting candidates have demanded an independent CBI investigation to identify individuals actually responsible for any examination malpractice instead of cancelling the entire recruitment process. Several affected candidates have raised concerns about exceeding age limits for future examinations. Others said they had left existing employment or made major financial and personal commitments after securing selection through the JSSC-CGL process. Protesters have indicated they could pursue legal remedies and intensify their agitation if the cancellation is not reconsidered. Hemant Soren Government Faces New Recruitment Row The Jharkhand government cancelled the JSSC-CGL examination following prolonged protests over alleged recruitment irregularities and also ordered a wider inquiry into examination-related lapses dating back to 2014. While the move satisfied aspirants demanding cancellation, it has created a new dispute involving successful candidates whose selections now stand threatened. The contrasting protests have placed the Hemant Soren government under renewed pressure to balance recruitment transparency with the rights of candidates claiming legitimate selection.
