Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that not “a single drop” of oil or gas will pass through the Strait of Hormuz if US military operations continue, escalating concerns over global energy supplies. Iran Threatens to Block Hormuz Energy Transit The IRGC said the strategic waterway would remain unsafe for petrochemical, oil and gas shipments while what it described as American “aggression” continued across the region. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, carrying around one-fifth of global oil supplies. Shipping activity through the passage has already declined sharply amid the latest escalation between Iran and the United States. The warning contributed to renewed pressure on energy markets, with Brent crude prices climbing above $90 per barrel amid concerns about prolonged disruption. IRGC Claims Two Oil Tankers Disabled The Revolutionary Guard claimed that two oil tankers exploded and were immobilised after attempting to use what it called an unsafe southern route through the strait. Iran alleged that the vessels had been encouraged by the US military to use the passage. However, the IRGC provided no information about their names, flags, crews or possible casualties. The tanker claim has not been independently verified. US Central Command previously rejected a similar Iranian assertion about tankers striking mines in the area as false. Maritime authorities have separately reported an unverified incident involving a vessel on fire near Oman. Iran Claims Ballistic Missile Strike in Jordan The IRGC also claimed that it used ballistic missiles to target American military aircraft at Aqaba airport in Jordan. No independent confirmation of damage or casualties was immediately available. Iran warned the US military to prepare for what it described as a “punitive operation” if American attacks continued. The latest threats followed another night of US strikes against Iranian military targets. The widening confrontation has increased fears of further attacks on commercial shipping, regional military bases and critical energy infrastructure.
