Indians in Lebanon – Bharat Pulse News

Amid intensifying conflict in Syria, 75 Indian nationals have been successfully evacuated from the war-torn region and relocated to Lebanon, as confirmed by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The operation was launched after rebel groups intensified their offensive, seizing critical areas and escalating the security threat to foreign nationals. The evacuees, primarily workers and families, were stranded in areas of increasing unrest as rebels took control of several cities. The evacuation effort was coordinated through the Indian Embassy in Damascus, which facilitated their safe passage to Lebanon under challenging conditions. MEA Ensures Swift Response The Indian government acted promptly to ensure the safety of its citizens. “The situation in Syria has become increasingly volatile, and the safety of our nationals is our top priority,” said an MEA spokesperson. An emergency helpline was set up, and Indian nationals were advised to leave Syria immediately through available commercial means. The Indian Embassy in Damascus provided logistical support to facilitate their movement to safer territories. Rebels Seize Strategic Areas The evacuation comes in the wake of Syrian rebel forces gaining significant ground, including key urban centers and strategic locations. The escalating violence has displaced thousands of civilians, with international agencies expressing grave concern over the humanitarian crisis. Reports suggest that rebel groups have intensified their operations, further destabilizing the region. The capture of Daraa province and other key locations has raised alarms over the potential for widespread conflict. Indian Nationals Safe in Lebanon The 75 evacuated Indians are now in Lebanon, where the Indian Embassy in Beirut is providing support and coordinating with local authorities. Efforts are underway to facilitate their safe return to India. This successful evacuation underscores India's commitment to safeguarding its citizens abroad, especially in regions facing severe conflict. The MEA has reiterated its advisory for Indian nationals to avoid travel to Syria until further notice.
