Indian student – Bharat Pulse News

A deeply disturbing video of an Indian student being handcuffed and pinned face-down at Newark Liberty International Airport in the United States has gone viral, triggering widespread outrage across social media and the Indian diaspora. The incident reportedly took place on June 7, when the student was restrained and deported before boarding his scheduled flight. Witness Alleges Inhumane Treatment The video was captured and shared by an Indian-American entrepreneur who witnessed the incident firsthand. In the footage, the student is seen crying and pleading while being physically restrained by officers. He is heard saying, “I’m not crazy...they are hell bent to prove that I am crazy,” while attempting to explain his situation. The witness described the student’s treatment as “deeply inhumane” and “a human tragedy,” urging Indian authorities to intervene. He questioned how the student's parents back in India would even begin to comprehend the trauma their son was undergoing thousands of miles away. Deportation Amid Rising Visa Revocations According to the witness, this is not an isolated incident. He alleged that in recent days, multiple Indian students have faced abrupt deportations at various U.S. airports—sometimes just hours after receiving visa clearance. Many of them, he claimed, were escorted in shackles and removed without due process. The pattern of last-minute visa cancellations and detentions appears to be on the rise, contributing to growing anxiety within the Indian student community in the U.S. Recent statistics indicate that visa enforcement actions against international students, including those from India, have intensified. In several cases, students have been denied entry or deported for unclear reasons, fueling calls for greater transparency and protection protocols. Calls for Government Action The video has galvanized public opinion, prompting appeals to the Indian Embassy in Washington and to the Ministry of External Affairs to take swift diplomatic action. Members of the Indian community in the U.S. and India have demanded that the government look into the treatment of Indian students and ensure that legal support is made available where needed. The episode has raised important questions about the handling of non-criminal deportation cases and the lack of sensitivity shown to young students who travel abroad in pursuit of education and opportunity. With the video continuing to circulate widely, pressure is mounting on Indian and American authorities to provide answers and safeguard the rights and dignity of foreign students.
