India has strongly condemned attacks on two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz that killed one Indian seafarer and injured 10 others. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Iran’s deputy chief of mission in New Delhi and lodged a formal protest over the incidents. Indian Seafarer Killed in Hormuz Attack The vessels, MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa, were attacked while travelling through the strategically important waterway. Together, the ships carried 30 Indian nationals among a combined crew of 46. MT Al Bahiyah had 12 Indian crew members on board. One Indian sailor was killed and another was injured in the attack. MT Mombasa carried 18 Indian seafarers, nine of whom sustained injuries. Two of the injured were reported to be in serious condition. Indian diplomatic officials in the United Arab Emirates are coordinating with local authorities to assist the affected seafarers and support the family of the deceased. India Summons Iranian Diplomat The Iranian deputy chief of mission was summoned by the foreign ministry as India registered its strong protest over the attacks. India condemned violence targeting seafarers and commercial vessels, warning that such incidents threaten safe navigation through international waterways. The government also called for the protection of civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping operating across the region. India Calls for End to Gulf Violence India expressed concern over the renewed hostilities in West Asia and called for an immediate end to the violence. New Delhi urged all sides to return to dialogue and diplomacy to restore regional peace and stability. It also stressed that navigation and international commerce through the Strait of Hormuz must continue without obstruction and in accordance with international law.
