An Indian fisherman, identified as 30-year-old Bhavesh, died by suicide in Karachi’s Landhi Jail on March 26, 2025. He was found hanging in his cell during a routine inspection by jail authorities. Bhavesh had been imprisoned since 2022 after being apprehended by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency for allegedly crossing into Pakistani territorial waters while fishing. Indian Fisherman Suicide Officials reported that Bhavesh showed no prior signs of mental distress or suicidal tendencies, and his death came as a shock to both the prison staff and Indian authorities.
