Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the Narendra Modi government of damaging the prospects of India’s students and young people over the past 12 years, while calling on the Congress to prepare a comprehensive and time-bound “Education-to-Employment Roadmap” for the country’s youth. He claimed that around 94,000 schools had closed in recent years and argued that increasing privatisation had made higher education more expensive and difficult for ordinary families to access. Kharge also raised concerns over examination paper leaks, recruitment irregularities and delays in government appointments, saying these problems had disproportionately affected young job seekers. He called for the proposed roadmap to be comprehensive and time-bound, arguing that the party needed to present concrete solutions rather than limit itself to criticism of the government. The Congress leadership is expected to place youth employment, education reforms and recruitment transparency among its major political priorities. Paper Leaks and Jobs Enter Political Focus Kharge also referred to recent student protests and accused the government of failing to adequately address concerns surrounding recruitment examinations and employment. He contrasted the current situation with previous Congress initiatives involving education, skill development and lowering the voting age. The remarks indicate that youth issues, examination reforms and employment opportunities are likely to become increasingly prominent in the Congress campaign strategy ahead of upcoming state elections.
