The Israeli Prime Minister proposed that Modi join Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar in lighting a ceremonial torch during the celebrations. Machchhar sustained injuries during an alleged attack by a co-pilot aboard a Tel Aviv-bound flydubai flight on September 30. Netanyahu praised the Indian pilot's actions and highlighted cooperation between India and Israel in combating terrorism.
