India's innings started solidly with captain Rohit Sharma hitting 52, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 35. However, both were dismissed in quick succession by New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, leaving the middle order to rebuild the innings. Despite the setbacks, India showed resilience after a disastrous first innings. Injury Woes for India India's wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, was absent from the field after suffering a knee injury on day two. The injury is of particular concern as it involves the same knee Pant injured in a serious car accident in December 2022, which sidelined him for over a year. India’s first-innings collapse, where they managed just 46 runs, was their third-lowest score in Test history and their lowest at home.
