The Jharkhand government has cancelled the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and scrapped recruitment activities linked to private agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), following weeks of protests by students and government job aspirants over alleged examination irregularities. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has also ordered a broader inquiry into recruitment-related errors and irregularities dating back to 2014. Jharkhand Cancels JSSC-CGL Examination The state government approved the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination along with examinations and recruitment processes conducted through TDPL. Published results, selections and other recruitment activities associated with the agency are also set to be affected by the decision. The move addresses one of the principal demands raised by protesting aspirants, who had accused the recruitment system of serious irregularities and demanded corrective action from the state government. Hemant Soren Orders Recruitment Exams Inquiry Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into alleged mistakes and irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted since 2014. The government has also constituted a committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal to recommend reforms aimed at preventing paper leaks and other examination-related problems. A dedicated mechanism is also expected to allow students, teachers and parents to submit suggestions on improving recruitment procedures. Student Leader Mahto Ends Hunger Strike Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto ended his 16-day hunger strike following the government’s announcement and suspended his agitation. However, some protesters continue to demand a CBI investigation into the alleged recruitment irregularities, while questions concerning other JPSC examinations remain unresolved. Candidates affected by the JSSC-CGL cancellation have also expressed opposition to the decision and may seek legal remedies.
