Chips produced at CG Semi’s semiconductor facility in Sanand, Gujarat, will be exported to Japan, the United States and Europe, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the plant. CG Semi Sanand Chip Plant The CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test facility in Sanand marks another step in India’s push to build a domestic semiconductor ecosystem. The plant will focus on semiconductor assembly, packaging and testing, which are critical stages in the chip manufacturing value chain. Vaishnaw said chips from the facility will serve multiple industrial applications and will also be supplied to global markets. The export plan is being seen as an important milestone for India’s ambition to become part of the international semiconductor supply chain. India Semiconductor Mission Boost The Sanand facility has been developed under India’s semiconductor manufacturing push, which aims to reduce dependence on imports and attract global technology partnerships. The plant is expected to support demand from sectors such as automobiles, industrial electronics, power systems and connected devices. These segments require reliable chip packaging and testing capabilities as India’s electronics manufacturing base expands. Chips Export To Japan US Europe Vaishnaw said chips produced at the CG Semi facility will be exported to major technology markets, including Japan, the US and Europe. He also said India is now moving from electronics assembly towards deeper value creation in components and semiconductors. The project is expected to generate skilled jobs, strengthen local supply chains and support India’s long-term goal of becoming a trusted semiconductor manufacturing hub. The Sanand facility also adds to Gujarat’s growing role in India’s chip ecosystem, with the state emerging as a key location for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing investments.
