GRAP-3 restrictions – Bharat Pulse News

In a notable respite for Delhi and NCR residents, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has lifted the Grade Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-3 restrictions following an improvement in the region's air quality. This decision allows the resumption of diesel and petrol vehicle operations, marking a shift from the stringent measures taken to combat alarming pollution levels. Improved Air Quality Index Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has shown signs of improvement, moving out of the "severe" category. This positive trend prompted the CAQM to reassess the restrictions under GRAP-3, which were initially implemented to curb air pollution caused by vehicular emissions and industrial activities. The region had witnessed severe restrictions on non-essential construction activities, demolition work, and vehicle operations powered by diesel and petrol. These measures were deemed necessary to prevent further deterioration of air quality during the winter months when pollution levels traditionally spike. Petrol and Diesel Vehicles Allowed With the lifting of GRAP-3 restrictions, petrol and diesel vehicles have been allowed back on NCR roads. This decision has come as a relief for commuters, businesses, and public transport operators, who faced logistical challenges during the restrictions. The CAQM emphasized that despite the relaxation, authorities will continue monitoring pollution levels closely. Should the AQI worsen again, GRAP-3 or other measures may be reinstated to ensure public health and environmental safety. Ongoing Measures and Public Responsibility Experts and environmentalists have highlighted the importance of sustained efforts to tackle air pollution, even as restrictions are lifted. Delhi’s air quality remains a recurring concern, requiring long-term strategies such as the adoption of green technologies, enhanced public transportation, and stricter enforcement of pollution norms. The lifting of GRAP-3 restrictions serves as a temporary reprieve, but authorities continue to urge residents and businesses to adopt environmentally friendly practices to ensure sustainable improvement in air quality.
