GoldCard – Bharat Pulse News

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a new Gold Card visa program, creating a fast-track route to American residency for applicants willing to make a $1 million financial contribution. A $15,000 processing fee and mandatory background checks are also part of the application process. The program is positioned as an alternative to traditional investor visas. How the Gold Card System Will Operate Under the scheme, successful applicants will receive a Gold Card that grants the right to live and work in the United States. The card functions similarly to a green card and can eventually lead to American citizenship. Officials have stated that the process will involve screening by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of Homeland Security before approval. Corporate and Higher-Tier Options The administration has also introduced a corporate Gold Card category, requiring U.S. firms to contribute $2 million per sponsored employee along with a processing fee. A higher-tier Platinum Card, priced at $5 million, is planned for future release. It is expected to offer longer stays and possible foreign-income tax advantages, though those details have not yet been finalized. Administration’s Pitch and Criticism The Trump administration argues that the program will attract global investors and retain high-skilled talent, generating substantial revenue while easing immigration backlogs. Critics warn that the policy may privilege wealthy applicants and raise concerns about equity in the immigration system. Policy Background The initiative arrives amid ongoing debate over U.S. immigration reform. It appears to partially replace the EB-5 investor visa model, which traditionally required investments tied to job creation rather than direct financial contributions.
