global nuclear market – Bharat Pulse News

India is gaining recognition for its growing capabilities in nuclear technology, with the potential to become a significant player in the global nuclear technology market. The nation’s progress in nuclear science, reactor development, and international collaboration has set the stage for an expanded role beyond domestic needs. IAEA Acknowledges India’s Capabilities The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, has acknowledged India's expanding role in nuclear innovation and emphasized that the country is well-placed to join the group of global nuclear technology exporters. He noted that India possesses both technological strength and a solid domestic foundation, making it a natural candidate to contribute to the global supply of nuclear solutions. Global Partnerships and Domestic Progress India has been actively advancing its nuclear agenda through international cooperation and indigenous innovation. Collaborative efforts with countries like France have led to plans for the joint development of advanced nuclear reactors. These partnerships not only enhance India’s capabilities but also help establish credibility on the international stage. At home, India is investing heavily in the development of small modular reactors (SMRs), which offer safer, more flexible energy solutions. These efforts are being supported by both government initiatives and private sector participation, marking a shift toward a more inclusive approach to nuclear energy development. Strategic Reforms and Future Vision To support its vision, the Indian government is considering legislative reforms to open the nuclear sector to private and foreign investment. The long-term goal is to increase the nation’s nuclear energy capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2047, in line with its sustainable development and energy security goals. These plans are part of a broader strategy to diversify energy sources and reduce carbon emissions while meeting the growing electricity demands of a rapidly developing economy. India’s entry into the global nuclear market would not only elevate its energy portfolio but also strengthen its geopolitical and technological influence. Conclusion India’s growing expertise, international collaborations, and supportive policy direction suggest that it is well on its way to becoming a key global player in the nuclear technology market. With strong institutional backing and an eye on innovation, India is poised to play a transformative role in the future of nuclear energy.
