Germany Putin escalation – Bharat Pulse News

A Russian drone strike on a passenger train near Ukraine’s border with Poland has drawn sharp criticism from Germany, with Defence Minister Boris Pistorius describing the attack as a calculated escalation intended to intimidate European countries supporting Kyiv. Germany Calls Train Strike a Calculated Escalation Pistorius said Russian President Vladimir Putin was deliberately escalating the conflict and attempting to spread fear across Europe. Speaking in Wolgast, Germany, he urged European governments to remain calm while making clear they were capable of defending themselves. The German defence minister described the attack as dangerous and intentional, arguing that Europe should neither allow itself to be provoked nor signal that it would retreat if tensions increased. Russian Drone Hits Train Near Poland Border The drone struck a passenger train near the Yahodyn railway station in Ukraine’s Volyn region, close to the border with NATO member Poland. The locomotive was damaged, but no casualties were reported. The strike occurred shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and other European officials had passed through the area. Ukraine’s railway authorities indicated that the diplomatic train may have been a possible target, although there has been no independent confirmation that the Russian strike was specifically directed at the visiting officials. Europe Warns Against Russian Intimidation European officials have condemned the incident as another attempt by Moscow to intimidate Ukraine’s international supporters. The attack’s proximity to Poland has heightened concern because the strike occurred near the territory of a NATO member, even though the drone remained inside Ukraine. The incident comes amid continued Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine and growing European concern about the risk of the war spilling closer to NATO territory.
