flight delay – Bharat Pulse News

An Air India flight bound for Delhi returned to Mumbai shortly after takeoff when crew and passengers detected a strong burning smell in the cabin. The crew promptly decided to return to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, citing safety as the top priority. Upon landing, engineers and technicians boarded the aircraft to conduct a detailed investigation. Initial checks revealed the aroma likely originated from an air conditioning unit or an electrical component, although no smoking or fire was observed. Passengers disembarked and were examined as a precaution; thankfully, no one required medical attention. Swift Response Ensures Passenger Safety Air India officials emphasized that all safety protocols were followed meticulously. The crew’s decision to abort the flight reflected standard operating procedures prioritizing passenger well-being. Airport emergency services were on standby as the aircraft returned, though no evacuation was needed. While the aircraft was being examined, passengers were rebooked on alternative flights to reach their Delhi destination. Air India has assured passengers they will be accommodated on the soonest available departure. Cause Under Investigation The airline’s engineering team focused their inspection on the aircraft’s air conditioning system, shortly blamed for malfunction-related odors in past incidents. Electrical systems were also tested to rule out short circuits or wiring issues. A full diagnostic will be performed before the aircraft is cleared to return to service. Customer Support and Communication Air India has reached out to affected passengers, offering refunds, meal vouchers, and support for onward travel. The airline has reiterated its commitment to safety, promising a comprehensive internal review and adherence to maintenance standards.
