farmers protest airport – Bharat Pulse News

Tamil nationalist leader and TVK Chief T. Vijay met with protesting farmers in Paradur to express his solidarity against the proposed airport project. Vijay, known for his strong stance on regional and agricultural issues, has voiced his full support for the farmers' demands, amplifying the opposition to the contentious project. Farmers Raise Concerns Over Agricultural Impact The farmers have been protesting against the Paradur airport project, citing concerns about the large-scale acquisition of fertile agricultural land. Many have argued that the construction of the airport would severely affect their livelihoods and disrupt the region's agricultural economy. Speaking to the media during his visit, Vijay said, "I fully support the farmers in their fight to protect their land and livelihood. The government must prioritize sustainable development without compromising the welfare of the agricultural community." Widening Opposition to the Project The Paradur airport project has been a subject of controversy since its announcement, with farmers, environmental activists, and regional leaders raising concerns over its potential ecological and socio-economic impact. The opposition to the project has grown, with various political groups and organizations joining the protests. Vijay’s visit has added significant weight to the farmers' movement, with the leader calling for immediate government action to address the farmers' grievances. He further urged the authorities to explore alternative sites for the airport that would not impact fertile land. Call for Government Dialogue The farmers have reiterated their demand for a transparent dialogue with the government to resolve the issue. They emphasized the importance of preserving agricultural land and livelihoods over infrastructure development. As protests continue, the Paradur airport project faces increasing scrutiny, with public opinion and political support tilting toward the farmers. The coming weeks will likely determine the project's fate, depending on the government's response and willingness to engage in meaningful discussions.
