Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accepted responsibility for discrepancies linked to CBSE’s On-Screen Marking system and assured students that corrective steps are being taken to resolve complaints over the Class 12 evaluation process. CBSE OSM Discrepancy Sparks Student Concern The controversy began after students raised complaints about blurred scanned answer sheets, alleged unchecked answers, portal crashes, payment failures and confusion during the verification and re-evaluation process. Pradhan said the issue would be fixed and that a solution was being worked out. He also appealed to political parties not to increase students’ stress, saying the immediate priority should be to address the concerns of examinees and parents. Dharmendra Pradhan Defends Digital Evaluation The minister defended the On-Screen Marking system as a progressive and student-centric evaluation model aimed at improving transparency. He said 17 lakh students appeared for the exam and CBSE had maintained 98 lakh answer scripts. According to Pradhan, each answer book contains around 40 pages, taking the total number of scanned pages to nearly 40 crore. He said the system is meant to provide students with transparent information about their marks. Strict Action Promised If Irregularities Found Pradhan said no one would be spared if irregularities are found in the evaluation process. He said corrective measures are being taken and technical reviews are underway to address student complaints. The issue has also triggered a political debate, with the Opposition questioning the evaluation system and the tender process. CBSE has maintained that its actual evaluation portal was secure and that reported concerns are being examined.
