electronic components export – Bharat Pulse News

India has commenced exporting electronic components to China and Vietnam for the assembly of Apple products, marking a significant shift in the global supply chain dynamics. This development is a testament to the success of the 'Make in India' initiative, which aims to position the country as a manufacturing hub for high-quality electronic components.Leading Apple suppliers such as Motherson Group, Jabil, Aequs, and Tata Electronics are at the forefront of this movement. These companies are producing essential components, including enclosures, for a range of Apple products like MacBooks, AirPods, Apple Watch, Apple Pencil, and iPhones. These components are manufactured in India and then exported to assembly plants in China and Vietnam, where the final products are assembled. This strategic move not only underscores India's growing importance in Apple's global operations but also highlights the country's evolving role in the electronics manufacturing sector. Historically, India has been a net importer of electronic components and sub-assemblies, primarily from China and Vietnam. The current trend of exporting components to these countries signifies a reversal of roles and showcases India's enhanced manufacturing capabilities.Industry experts view this as a pivotal moment for India's electronics industry. The establishment of a robust component ecosystem is expected to bolster the country's position in the global supply chain. Projections indicate that India could achieve component exports worth $35-40 billion by 2030, further solidifying its status as a key player in electronics manufacturing.Apple's commitment to diversifying its supply chain has been evident since 2020, driven by geopolitical shifts and the desire to reduce dependence on a single market. By expanding its manufacturing footprint in India, Apple not only mitigates potential risks but also capitalizes on the benefits offered by the 'Make in India' initiative. This move is poised to attract more global manufacturers to consider India as a viable production base. The collaboration between Apple and its Indian suppliers is fostering the development of a local electronics manufacturing ecosystem. This partnership is expected to have a cascading effect, encouraging other multinational companies to explore manufacturing opportunities in India. As the country continues to enhance its infrastructure and skill set, it is well-positioned to become a global hub for electronics production.
