DMK president M.K. Stalin has criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over his conduct in the state Assembly, accusing the actor-turned-politician of treating the legislature like a “cinema set” and relying on punch dialogues instead of substantive governance. MK Stalin Targets CM Vijay Over Assembly Conduct Speaking at a DMK executive committee meeting on Saturday, Stalin alleged that Vijay was using the Assembly in a manner resembling his film career rather than approaching debates as serious legislative business. He also accused the Vijay-led government of concentrating on renaming welfare schemes introduced during the previous DMK administration. Stalin maintained that the DMK remained connected with people at the grassroots regardless of electoral victories or defeats. Stalin Addresses DMK’s Tamil Nadu Election Defeat Stalin also addressed the DMK’s recent electoral setback, telling party functionaries that the defeat should not be treated as permanent. He said the result should instead be used as an opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of the party’s organisational weaknesses. Stalin acknowledged that mistakes by individual office-bearers could damage the wider organisation and argued that simply replacing functionaries constituency by constituency would not be sufficient. DMK Announces Major Organisational Reforms The executive committee approved significant changes aimed at increasing youth participation and restructuring the party following its election defeat. The DMK has introduced age limits for several organisational positions and revised tenure restrictions for office-bearers. Branch committee secretaries will face a maximum age of 45, while higher-level organisational posts will carry progressively higher age limits. The party is also restructuring ward, area, town and union committees based on voter strength as part of its broader organisational overhaul.
