India and China have noted progress towards the gradual normalisation of bilateral ties after top officials from both countries held talks in New Delhi on the sidelines of a BRICS security meeting. India China Relations Show Signs Of Normalisation National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday during the BRICS National Security Advisers’ meeting in New Delhi. India’s Ministry of External Affairs described the discussions as constructive and forward-looking. Both sides reviewed recent developments in bilateral relations and noted progress towards gradual normalisation after years of tension. The meeting is significant because India-China ties had remained strained since the 2020 border clash, which led to a prolonged military standoff and a sharp decline in political and diplomatic engagement. Doval Wang Yi Talks In Delhi During the talks, both sides discussed the need to maintain dialogue and manage sensitive issues through established diplomatic channels. Wang Yi said India and China must respect each other’s core interests and properly handle sensitive matters. He also called for the resumption of bilateral dialogue mechanisms and greater exchanges in trade, finance, law enforcement and media. The remarks suggest that both countries are looking to rebuild structured engagement while continuing to manage unresolved differences. BRICS Security Meeting In India India is currently chairing BRICS and is hosting the National Security Advisers’ meeting in New Delhi on Monday and Tuesday. The meeting brings together representatives from BRICS members, including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, along with newer member countries. Wang also said the BRICS mechanism should support a multipolar global order. The latest India-China meeting indicates a cautious diplomatic reset, though border stability and mutual trust remain central to any lasting improvement in ties.
