defense deal – Bharat Pulse News

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved a significant ₹9,000 crore defense deal to procure advanced indigenous artillery guns. This move is aimed at enhancing India's self-reliance in defense production while boosting the capabilities of the Indian Army with modernized weaponry. Indigenous Artillery Boost for Indian Army The approved deal will enable the acquisition of a substantial number of indigenous advanced towed artillery gun systems (ATAGS). These state-of-the-art artillery guns are developed in India under the "Make in India" initiative, reinforcing the country's push toward defense self-sufficiency. Designed to meet modern warfare requirements, ATAGS are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including extended firing range, improved accuracy, and increased mobility. Strategic Importance of the Procurement The procurement of these artillery guns is part of a broader strategy to modernize the Army's firepower and reduce dependency on foreign military equipment. The indigenous guns are expected to significantly enhance India's border defense preparedness, particularly along sensitive regions. The acquisition also aligns with the government's focus on bolstering indigenous defense manufacturing, reducing imports, and strengthening national security. Impact on the Domestic Defense Industry The deal is expected to provide a significant boost to India's defense industry, generating employment opportunities and supporting defense manufacturers, including private sector firms involved in ATAGS production. With a strong emphasis on local manufacturing, this move is set to contribute to the growth of India's defense ecosystem and improve self-sufficiency in the military sector. Conclusion The CCS's approval of the ₹9,000 crore artillery deal marks a critical step in India's efforts to modernize its armed forces with indigenous technology. The deployment of these advanced artillery systems will enhance the Army’s combat capabilities while reinforcing India's position as a key player in defense manufacturing.
