Dasun Shanaka – Bharat Pulse News

Dasun Shanaka is set to join Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for injured England all-rounder Sam Curran ahead of IPL 2026, giving the franchise a late but experienced squad reinforcement before the new season. The move comes after Curran was ruled out with a suspected groin injury, forcing Rajasthan to look for a like-for-like all-round option with international experience. Dasun Shanaka Set For Rajasthan Royals Role Rajasthan Royals have moved to bring in Sri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka after Sam Curran’s injury setback. Shanaka is expected to add balance to the side with his ability to contribute in the middle order and offer medium-pace bowling when needed. His experience in white-ball cricket and franchise leagues makes him a practical replacement as Rajasthan reshapes its combination before the tournament begins. Sam Curran Injury Forces IPL 2026 Change Curran’s absence is a significant blow because he was expected to play an important all-round role for Rajasthan this season. The England player has been sidelined due to a suspected groin injury, prompting the franchise to act quickly in the replacement market. Losing a player of Curran’s versatility affects both batting depth and bowling flexibility, especially in high-pressure T20 contests. Rajasthan Royals Add Experience Before Season Shanaka’s arrival gives Rajasthan an experienced international cricketer who has captained Sri Lanka and played in major T20 competitions around the world. While he may not be a direct replica of Curran in style, he offers valuable finishing ability, game awareness and squad depth. For Rajasthan Royals, the replacement is about maintaining balance and ensuring the team enters IPL 2026 with enough proven options in its all-round department.
