Dammam airport attack October 2026

An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Eight others were injured, including two Indian nationals, as Saudi authorities assessed damage to the airport amid escalating attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure in the kingdom. Indian National Killed in Dammam Airport Attack Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed on Thursday that an Indian national and a Saudi citizen had died in the attack. Eight people sustained injuries, including nationals of India, Yemen, Bangladesh and Nepal. Some of the injured were reportedly in serious condition. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh expressed condolences to the bereaved family and said it was coordinating with Saudi authorities to obtain further information and assist affected Indian nationals. Airport operations were disrupted following the attack, although flights subsequently resumed. Houthi Attacks Escalate Across Saudi Arabia The incident occurred amid intensified attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement against Saudi oil installations, airports and other infrastructure. According to official casualty figures, attacks targeting Saudi airports have killed 22 people during October. Earlier strikes forced authorities to restrict operations at Riyadh's main international airport and postpone a major investment conference. Responsibility for the latest Dammam airport attack has not been conclusively established. Red Sea Blockade Raises Regional Security Concerns The Houthis have also declared a maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia, threatening shipping routes used for international oil exports. The escalation follows the collapse of a longstanding truce in Yemen's civil war in July 2026. Saudi forces have responded with airstrikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, where the group has expanded its territorial control along the Red Sea coast. The continuing hostilities have raised concerns about civilian safety, regional aviation and international energy supplies.
