conflict sexual violence report

A United Nations hearing in New York turned tense after Israeli envoy Danny Danon clashed with senior UN officials over reports accusing Israel of violations linked to children in armed conflict and conflict-related sexual violence. Israeli Envoy UN Clash In New York Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, sharply criticised UN officials during the hearing and accused the organisation of bias against Israel. He objected to Israel being included in UN reporting over alleged conflict-related sexual violence and demanded accountability from senior UN officials involved in the process. The exchange escalated when a UN official defended the findings of a separate report on children and armed conflict. Danon rejected the remarks and said the reporting process unfairly targeted Israel. UN Reports On Children In Conflict The latest UN children and armed conflict report recorded a sharp rise in grave violations against children globally. It also listed violations attributed to Israeli forces, Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups. The report raised concern over children affected by the war in Gaza and the wider violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. UN officials said the findings were based on verified evidence, while Israel rejected the allegations and described the process as politically motivated. Israel UN Tensions Over Gaza War The confrontation reflects deepening tensions between Israel and the United Nations over the Gaza war and wider regional conflict. Israel has repeatedly accused UN bodies of bias, while UN officials have defended their monitoring mechanisms as part of their mandate in conflict zones. The dispute is expected to intensify diplomatic pressure around accountability, child protection and the handling of conflict-related violations during the ongoing conflict.
