Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has extended support to the Cockroach Janta Party and activist Sonam Wangchuk over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. He also urged Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike, saying his life was important to the country. He described the protest as a movement concerning the future of students across India. The CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar has continued for 24 days. Protesters are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, including the NEET paper leak controversy. The organisation has also sought ₹1 crore in compensation for families of students who died by suicide following the controversy. Sonam Wangchuk Urged to End Fast Wangchuk joined the protest on June 28 and began an indefinite hunger strike. Doctors reported a decline in his blood pressure and significant weight loss as the fast continued. Thackeray appealed to the activist to withdraw the hunger strike, saying the protest needed his continued leadership. He maintained that the government had not responded adequately to the demonstrators’ concerns. Shiv Sena Plans Maharashtra Protest The CJP has announced a march towards Parliament on July 20, when the Monsoon Session is scheduled to begin. Thackeray said Shiv Sena (UBT) would organise protests across Maharashtra on the same day in support of the movement. He also said party MPs would raise the examination irregularities issue during Parliament’s Monsoon Session. He urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders to support the agitation and organise similar demonstrations in their respective states.
