central contracts – Bharat Pulse News

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revised its annual central contracts list, dropping several players including Mohammed Shami and Ishan Kishan from the retained roster. BCCI Central Contracts 2026 Changes The updated contract list reflects performance, availability and selection considerations over the past season. Players not part of regular international plans were removed from the contracted group as the board reviewed its squad structure. Central contracts determine annual retainers and match fee eligibility for India internationals, making inclusion significant for player earnings and selection continuity. Mohammed Shami Ishan Kishan Omitted Among the notable omissions were fast bowler Mohammed Shami and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. Their exclusion follows limited appearances and changing team combinations across formats. The board periodically updates contracts to align with current squad priorities and workload management. Impact On Indian Team Structure The revised list indicates a shift toward players featuring consistently in international schedules. Younger and regularly selected cricketers retained their places, reflecting future planning across formats. The changes do not prevent dropped players from selection but remove guaranteed retainers tied to contract status.
