Iran’s Health Ministry has said two days of US airstrikes across Iran killed at least 14 people and injured 78, as the renewed confrontation between Washington and Tehran widened across the Gulf region. US Airstrikes On Iran Kill 14 Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour announced the casualty figures on Thursday, saying the deaths and injuries were recorded after US strikes on July 8 and 9. The figures mark the first overall casualty count released by Iranian authorities since the latest round of American airstrikes began. Iranian officials said the strikes hit targets across five provinces, including areas near southern coastal infrastructure and key transport routes. Iran Reports Infrastructure Damage State-linked reports said one strike hit a rail bridge used for trade links with Russia and China. Explosions were also reported in Bushehr province and in Bandar Abbas, a major port city on Iran’s southern coast. A local official said a US projectile struck the perimeter area of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. There was no immediate indication of damage to the plant’s core facilities, but the reported strike added to concerns over escalation near sensitive infrastructure. Gulf Tensions Rise Further The latest strikes came after the US military said it had targeted around 90 Iranian military sites, including air defence systems, coastal surveillance assets and missile and drone storage locations. Washington said the operation was linked to attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has rejected US pressure and warned of retaliation, while also launching strikes toward US-linked military infrastructure in Gulf states. The renewed violence has deepened uncertainty over the temporary ceasefire and raised fresh concerns over oil supplies, shipping security and regional stability.
