Mumbai’s Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) building, located at the iconic Phiroze Jeejeebhoy Towers on Dalal Street, received a bomb threat via email on July 13. The message claimed that four explosives had been planted within the premises and warned of a blast scheduled for 3 PM the same day. Immediate Police Action Soon after the threat was received, BSE officials alerted Mumbai Police, who quickly moved into action. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) reached the location, evacuated sections of the building, and launched a thorough search operation. After sweeping the premises, authorities confirmed that the bomb threat was a false alarm and declared the situation safe. FIR Filed, Probe Initiated Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are now investigating the origin of the email. Initial reports suggest that the email may have been sent from a fake address impersonating a well-known political figure. Cyber experts are now assisting the police to trace the IP address and identify those responsible. History of Past Attacks The BSE building is a high-security zone, given its past. It was one of the major targets during the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, which caused extensive damage and loss of life. Although this recent threat turned out to be a hoax, authorities are treating the matter seriously due to the building's historical sensitivity. Business as Usual BSE management confirmed that trading operations were not disrupted and continued as scheduled. While security at the building has been further tightened, officials have assured that there is no threat to public safety. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
