blending – Bharat Pulse News

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said India should aim to achieve 100% ethanol blending in the near future, arguing that the country needs greater energy self-reliance as oil supply risks rise because of tensions in West Asia. His remarks push the ethanol debate beyond the current E20 programme and place full ethanol-based fuel firmly into the national energy discussion. Nitin Gadkari Calls For 100% Ethanol Blending Speaking at an industry event, Gadkari said India should aspire to move toward 100% ethanol blending rather than stop at lower targets. He linked the proposal directly to energy security, saying the country must reduce its dependence on imported crude oil at a time of geopolitical uncertainty. Ethanol Blending Push Tied To Energy Security India has already rolled out E20 petrol nationwide, which contains 20% ethanol, but Gadkari’s comments indicate that the government’s long-term thinking may go much further. He stressed that India imports a very large share of its oil needs and that alternative fuels such as ethanol can help shield the economy from global disruptions, fuel shocks and supply chain risks. E100 Vision Raises New Debate On Fuel Transition The minister’s remarks are likely to trigger fresh discussion around flex-fuel vehicles, engine compatibility, fuel infrastructure and domestic ethanol production capacity. While the statement signals an ambitious policy direction, the move from E20 to E100 would require major technological and commercial adjustments across the auto and fuel sectors. For now, Gadkari’s call is being seen as a strong policy push for a faster transition toward biofuel-led transport.
