Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered an FIR against Army personnel, including officers of the 17 Rashtriya Rifles, for allegedly storming a police station in Kishtwar district and assaulting police officials. Army Personnel Booked In Kishtwar Case The FIR was registered after an alleged incident at Atholi police station in Kishtwar. Police have named Colonel N. Arun Gandhi, Commanding Officer of 17 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Vikas Sharma, Naib Subedar Shankar Gurkhe and several other unidentified Army personnel. According to the complaint, around 30-40 Army personnel allegedly entered the police station premises, assaulted government officials and police personnel, and damaged public property. Police Station Assault Allegations The case has been registered under serious charges, including attempted murder and destruction of public property. Police officials have alleged that the incident disrupted official work and created a serious law-and-order situation inside the station. The exact reason behind the confrontation is still under investigation. Authorities are expected to examine CCTV footage, statements of police personnel, medical records and other evidence linked to the incident. Army Says It Will Cooperate The Army has said it will cooperate with the investigation. The case is likely to be examined carefully because it involves personnel from two security institutions operating in a sensitive region. The incident has raised concerns over coordination between the Army and local police in Jammu and Kashmir. While the FIR records the police version of events, the final findings will depend on the investigation and any separate inquiry conducted by the Army.
