The Indian Army is expected to finalize a landmark deal for 307 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS) by March 2025. General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff, stated, "This procurement will mark a milestone in our efforts to enhance self-reliance in defense production and modernize our artillery systems." The ATAGS guns are capable of firing long-range precision ammunition, a feature critical for countering emerging threats. A Boost for Indigenous Manufacturing The acquisition aligns with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at reducing reliance on foreign defense imports.
