Two sensitive stretches along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, Asaphila and Longju, remain under close military monitoring amid differing perceptions of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Defence sources said on Saturday, October 24, 2026, that the situation in both sectors was stable despite periodic face-offs between Indian and Chinese patrols. No violent clashes have been reported in these areas. Asaphila and Longju Remain Sensitive Along LAC Located within the Taksing Circle of Arunachal Pradesh, Asaphila and Longju have experienced recurring friction when Indian and Chinese troops encounter each other during routine patrols. Defence sources maintained that ground commanders were exercising restraint and that operational control remained intact. The clarification followed remarks by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Kapur acknowledging continuing face-offs at several locations along the Arunachal border. India-China Military Talks Help Manage Border Tensions Military authorities are using established communication mechanisms, including flag meetings and military hotlines, to manage local confrontations. A recent Corps Commander-level interaction in the northeastern sector was also highlighted as an important step towards strengthening military dialogue. The Ministry of External Affairs has maintained that disturbances arise when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns. Both countries continue diplomatic and military engagement to prevent escalation and improve border management. Arunachal Border Infrastructure Development Continues Authorities are expanding all-weather roads, bridges, telecommunications networks and essential civic infrastructure in remote frontier areas. Defence sources said these developments would improve military logistics while supporting economic opportunities and public services for border communities. Security forces are also assisting residents through medical camps, emergency evacuations, educational infrastructure and employment initiatives. The region's historic Tsari pilgrimage circuit could potentially benefit from future cross-border arrangements, subject to bilateral agreement and security conditions.
