Anti-Hindu parade – Bharat Pulse News

An anti-Hindu parade held in Toronto has triggered sharp backlash across communities, putting Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney under immediate pressure. The controversial demonstration took place near the Malton Gurdwara, shortly after Carney’s Liberal Party secured a federal election victory. The timing and content of the event have raised questions about how Carney plans to confront extremist elements that have often been accused of damaging Canada’s multicultural ethos and its relationship with India. Parade Features Caged Effigies and Hate Slogans The parade featured caged effigies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. More alarmingly, protestors raised slogans calling for the deportation of approximately 800,000 Hindus from Canada to India. The language and imagery used have been widely condemned as hate speech with deeply communal undertones, stoking fears within the Indo-Canadian Hindu community. Community Outcry and Demands for Accountability Leaders from Hindu organizations, interfaith groups, and diaspora associations have voiced their alarm at what they see as a dangerous escalation of divisive rhetoric. The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce issued a strong statement warning that such inflammatory calls mirror the dark chapters of ethnic cleansing seen globally and must be condemned in the strongest terms. Human rights groups have also called upon the Carney government to investigate whether the parade violated Canadian hate crime laws. Mark Carney’s Silence Draws Criticism Mark Carney had campaigned on a platform that promised to repair strained ties with India, improve social harmony, and crack down on extremism. However, his silence following the Toronto incident has not gone unnoticed. Critics argue that his leadership is already being tested, and any reluctance to confront such displays of hate could derail diplomatic reset efforts with India and erode trust among Canada’s Hindu population. Tensions Mount Over Canada-India Relations The parade comes at a sensitive time for Canada-India relations, already strained by previous allegations of leniency toward Khalistani extremism. Analysts believe the new Prime Minister’s handling of this issue will define his foreign policy credibility in South Asia and his commitment to religious tolerance at home. A decisive stand against such hate-fueled public events is being seen as essential to restore faith among the affected communities and prevent further communal polarization within Canada’s multicultural society.
