National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has projected that India’s gross domestic product could rise from about $4.015 trillion currently to $38 trillion over the next 20 years, as the country undergoes major economic and technological transformation. India GDP Could Reach $38 Trillion by 2046 Addressing the convocation ceremony of IIT Roorkee on Saturday, Doval said students were entering professional life during what he described as a transformative period for India. He said the country was witnessing major changes across sectors and linked the coming two decades with the government’s broader “Amrit Kaal” vision leading towards 2047. The $38 trillion figure represents Doval’s long-term projection rather than an official GDP forecast. Actual economic output over the next two decades will depend on factors including growth rates, inflation, exchange rates, investment, productivity and global economic conditions. Doval Highlights Opportunities for Indian Youth The National Security Advisor told graduating students that India’s economic expansion would create significant opportunities for the younger generation. He urged students to develop courage, clarity and determination while making professional and personal decisions. Doval said future leaders should understand their current position, know where they want to reach and identify the path required to achieve their objectives. India Remains Among Fastest-Growing Major Economies India is currently one of the world’s largest economies and continues to record comparatively strong growth among major global economies. Sustaining rapid economic expansion over the coming decades would require continued investment in manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, skills and employment creation. Doval said the scale of change underway in India meant today’s graduates would play an important role in shaping the country’s economic trajectory over the next two decades.
