The Delhi High Court has refused to immediately restore the X account of the satirical online group Cockroach Janta Party, while seeking responses from the Centre and the social media platform. Delhi HC Refuses X Account Restoration The court declined to pass an interim order for immediate restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party’s X account in India. It said the matter required wider consideration after hearing the government and X. The account was withheld in India after a legal demand, prompting founder Abhijeet Dipke to move the High Court. The petitioner argued that the account should be restored and said objectionable posts, if any, could remain blocked. Cockroach Janta Party Case In Court The court observed that some posts appeared “slightly offensive” and said it would not issue an immediate restoration order at this stage. It issued notice to the Centre and X, asking them to respond to the plea. The petitioner has also been allowed to approach the government review committee that examines blocking orders related to online platforms. Satirical Account Blocked In India Cockroach Janta Party emerged as a satirical online movement and gained attention after controversy over remarks attributed to Chief Justice Surya Kant. Its X account was later blocked in India, triggering debate over online satire, political speech and platform restrictions. The matter will now proceed after the Centre and X file their replies before the court.
