T Raja Singh Quits BJP Over Telangana Leadership Choice

Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party, citing his shock and deep disappointment over the likely appointment of N Ramchander Rao as the next state BJP president. The firebrand legislator from Goshamahal made the announcement through a public letter, stating that he could no longer remain silent while decisions were being taken that undermined the sentiments of lakhs of dedicated party workers.

Singh expressed his dissatisfaction with the central leadership’s choice, alleging that grassroots leaders and hardworking karyakartas were being consistently overlooked in favor of individuals “running the show from behind the curtain.” He warned that the move would seriously impact the BJP’s chances in Telangana, especially at a time when the party needs to rebuild its strength and morale in the state.

Rift Over Ramchander Rao’s Elevation

At the heart of Singh’s resignation is the reported nomination of Ramchander Rao—a former MLC and Hyderabad BJP chief—for the top party position in Telangana. Singh argued that several other capable leaders, including sitting MPs and local leaders with proven track records, had been unfairly bypassed. In his resignation letter, he made an emotional appeal to top BJP figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, party president JP Nadda, and general secretary BL Santhosh, urging them to reconsider the decision.

Singh Reaffirms Commitment to Hindutva

Despite his resignation, Singh reiterated his ideological alignment with the BJP’s core Hindutva principles. He emphasized that his exit was not a betrayal of the ideology, but a protest against the erosion of internal democracy within the party. “I will continue to work for the welfare of Hindus and the people of my constituency,” he affirmed, distancing his decision from any personal ambition or opportunism.

Fallout and Reactions

Singh’s resignation has triggered murmurs of unrest within the state BJP unit. Known for his vocal positions and strong grassroots following, his departure puts the spotlight on internal fissures in the Telangana BJP. While no official statement has been released yet by the central leadership regarding Ramchander Rao’s appointment, the party is expected to respond soon, especially with Singh’s public statements drawing wide attention.
