Suryakumar Yadav To Donate Asia Cup Match Fees to Indian Army
India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav announced he will donate all of his match fees from the Asia Cup 2025 to the Indian Army and to families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack. He made the pledge following India’s five-wicket win over Pakistan in the final, which gave India its ninth Asia Cup title.
Match Fees And Donation Amount
T20 international players earn around ₹4 lakh per match. Having played seven matches in the tournament, Yadav’s donation is expected to total about ₹28 lakh. He described the move as a gesture of gratitude to the armed forces and a way to support victims and their families.
Reaction To Trophy Controversy
Yadav also spoke strongly about the trophy row, saying he had “never seen a champion team denied a trophy.” India declined to receive the Asia Cup trophy from ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, leading to a delay of over an hour before the ceremony was abandoned.
Focus On Team And Victory
Despite the controversy, Yadav said his true trophies were his teammates, the support staff, and the shared memories of the campaign. He emphasised that the win itself was more important than the presentation and highlighted his donation as a way to keep perspective on what matters most.
