Suresh Gopi Wishes to Quit Politics, Says Income Has Stopped

Union Minister Suresh Gopi has expressed his intent to resign from his ministerial role, saying his income has “completely stopped” since assuming office. He indicated a desire to return full-time to acting and claimed that the financial change has made his current role unsustainable.

Proposed Successor

Gopi suggested C. Sadanandan (also known as “Sadanandan Master”), a newly elected Rajya Sabha MP from Kerala, as his replacement. He said the transition would open a “new chapter” in Kerala politics.

Background and Current Roles

Suresh Gopi, an actor-turned politician, is the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of State for Tourism. He also represents Thrissur in Lok Sabha and is the first BJP MP from Kerala.

In his remarks, Gopi noted that he “never wanted” to leave films and had earlier told reporters before the elections that he preferred acting over ministerial duties. His public comments hint at frustration with the balance between politics and his cinematic career.
