Supreme Court Panel Opens Portal for Jantar Mantar Violence
A Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC) has launched an online complaint portal to gather information about violence during protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and other locations in July 2026. The initiative allows affected civilians, police personnel and witnesses to submit complaints and evidence as part of the ongoing judicial inquiry.
Supreme Court Panel Investigates Jantar Mantar Violence
The committee was constituted to examine incidents of violence associated with the July protests, including those linked to demonstrations over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
The Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed on October 17 that the committee would investigate matters identified in Supreme Court orders dated August 18 and September 10, 2026.
The inquiry covers incidents within Delhi and other affected locations, with particular attention to allegations involving protesters, security personnel and damage to public and private property.
Pellet Gun Use and Violence Against Women Under Scrutiny
The Supreme Court-appointed committee will prioritise allegations concerning the use of pellet guns, targeted violence and harassment of female protesters.
Investigators will also examine allegations of excessive force, violent conduct and destruction of property involving either protesters or security personnel.
These issues remain subject to investigation, and the committee has not announced final findings establishing responsibility for the alleged incidents.
Jantar Mantar Complaint Portal Accepts Evidence
The dedicated HPEC portal enables affected individuals and other stakeholders to submit complaints, representations and relevant information electronically.
According to the Home Ministry, the system includes provisions to protect vulnerable witnesses and maintain the confidentiality of complainants who request anonymity.
Those preferring physical submissions may visit the HPEC office at Shiksha Sadan, 17 Rouse Avenue Institutional Area, New Delhi, between 2 pm and 4 pm on working days.
Complaints and supporting material may also be submitted by post or email. The committee has invited information and suggestions from anyone possessing relevant evidence concerning the July violence.
