Starmer Seeks Trump Apology Over NATO Remarks

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has demanded an apology from US President Donald Trump over remarks suggesting NATO allies did not fight on the front lines during the Afghanistan war. Starmer said the comments were inaccurate and deeply disrespectful to allied troops who served alongside US forces.

Defence Of Allied Forces

Starmer stressed that British and other NATO personnel were fully engaged in combat operations throughout the conflict. He noted that 457 British service members lost their lives during the 20-year mission and said Trump’s remarks ignored the sacrifices made by allied soldiers and their families.

Political And Public Reaction

The comments have drawn criticism across the UK political spectrum, with veterans’ groups and opposition leaders calling the remarks misleading and hurtful. Starmer said such statements risk undermining NATO unity and trust between allies. The White House has not issued an apology or clarification so far.
