Starlink Clarifies India Pricing Glitch
Starlink has clarified that a short-lived display of prices on its India website was caused by a configuration glitch. The figures that appeared — including a ₹34,000 one-time hardware fee and ₹8,600 monthly plan — were described as placeholder data and not actual pricing.
Service not launched yet
The company said its India service has not been launched, no orders are being taken, and no official price list has been finalised. Starlink stated that real plans will only be shared after government approvals are completed. The website section that showed prices has now been removed.
Excitement among potential users
The display of prices triggered speculation that a rollout was imminent, especially among users in rural and remote areas looking for reliable high-speed connectivity. The company has advised the public to ignore any screenshots circulating online, saying they do not represent real offers.
Awaiting clearances
According to the company, regulatory licences for operations have been obtained, but some clearances are still pending. The timing of the commercial launch will depend on when final permissions are granted. Starlink said it will announce details officially once everything is ready.
