Stalin Condemns Attack on Chief Justice

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin strongly condemned the attempt to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai during Supreme Court proceedings, calling it a “shameful act” that undermines the dignity of the judiciary.

Strong Words from the CM

Stalin said that although the CJI responded with calm and dignity, the incident cannot be downplayed. He urged all citizens and institutions to safeguard the respect and authority of the judiciary. He also called for tighter security measures in courtrooms to prevent such attacks in the future.

Wider Reactions

The attack has drawn widespread criticism from political leaders, legal circles, and civil society. Many described it as an assault on the rule of law and the independence of the judicial system. The Bar Council has already suspended the lawyer involved, and the Supreme Court is expected to consider contempt proceedings.

Observers say the episode highlights rising tensions in public discourse, and raises questions about courtroom security and decorum. As the judiciary investigates the incident, many are watching how institutional safeguards will be strengthened to prevent recurrence.
