South Korea’s Former First Lady Kim Keon-Hee Indicted

Kim Keon-Hee, former First Lady of South Korea, has been formally indicted on multiple charges, including bribery and stock manipulation. This marks the first time a former First Lady in the country has faced such legal action. She is currently in custody, alongside her husband, former President Yoon Suk-Yeol, who is already on trial for insurrection.

Wide-Ranging Criminal Allegations

Special prosecutors allege that Kim manipulated stock prices between 2010 and 2012 to gain illicit profits, received luxury gifts—including jewelry—from influential figures like a religious leader, and intervened in political party nomination processes.

Ex-PM Han Duck-Soo Also Indicted

Former Prime Minister Han Duck-Soo was also indicted on the same day. He faces charges of abetting the failed attempt to impose martial law, along with allegations of perjury and falsifying documents.
